IMG_3405Because the Christmas season is not crazy enough and because I like to torture myself, every year I have a small seasonal business where I make and sell handmade fudge. Joking aside, I actually really enjoy coming up with the flavors, and the somewhat scientific thinking (yes I’m a nerd) that goes into adjusting the recipe for each new flavor.

This week was our busiest yet, and today was spent packaging and getting fudge ready for customers.

This small seasonal business has always been a blessing for our family during the Christmas season. It has allowed us to give a little more generously (especially in charitable donations) and save some extra for a rainy day. The last four years we’ve had car trouble in January or February. “Fudge money” as we call it has always been enough to cover those unplanned expenses.
