We rinse our dishes as we finish with them and stick them right in the dishwasher. I’ve found that filling the dishwasher detergent container only half full does the same job as filling it all the way full. I’ve considered making my own dishwashing detergent, but with other things on my plate it hasn’t been a priority. For now extending the life of my store bought detergent by double is good enough.
