My son Aiden who is 11, is enjoying learning how to cook and bake. I really love having him cook with me. Sunday he asked if I ever make up recipes. I said absolutely. He said he wanted to give it a try. This recipe is the result! It’s a perfect summer recipe. And all the ingredients come together beautifully as a trifle. It isn’t hard to make but it is a showstopper. We loved how much it reminded us of a banana split.
Banana Split Brownie Trifle
Ingredients
- 2 boxes vanilla pudding
- 2 boxes banana pudding
- 16 oz whipped cream or cool whip
- 1 box brownie mix
- 20 fresh cherries or maraschino cherries
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds or peanuts
Instructions
-
Make brownie mix according to box directions. Pour into 9x13 pan and bake as directed (ours took about 20 minutes).
-
Make puddings according to package directions (remember you are doubling it) and put into the fridge to thicken.
-
Cut fresh cherries so that you can remove the pit. If you are using maraschino just slice them in half.
-
Once the brownies are cooked and cooled, cut them into small squares.
-
Layer the trifle first with brownies, then banana pudding, then vanilla pudding, next whipped cream. Add a layer of cherries then start again with brownies. Top it off with a final sprinkling of cherries and then sprinkle the almonds on top. Store in the fridge until ready to eat.
