I know St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone, but I thought I would share anyway, because we had so much fun making these.
Supplies:
1 8.5×11 sheet of paper for each placemat you are making
Circle punch; we used 1 inch and 3/4 inch punches
Green ink
Green pen
Paint chips in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple for each placemat you are making
Glue
Clear contact paper
We started by punching circles out of the paint chips. Don’t worry about getting the color names it isn’t that noticeable. Then arrange the circles on your paper in a rainbow. You can arrange the circles so that the color fades as it goes across (the neat part about using paint chips! Glue them down. Use your thumb to create the leaves of a clover by dipping it in ink and then “stamping” onto your paper. Use the green pen to make a stem for your clovers.
Finally cut out a piece of contact paper that is just slightly bigger than the paper. Lay the contact paper down sticky side up on a flat surface and then put your paper centered on it and press down. Do the same thing with the back. Now you have fun, budget friendly placemats for St. Patrick’s Day. We plan on keeping ours in our holiday decoration box to pull out and use again next year.
