Have a kiddo learning multiplication? This is a great activity to help them understand multiplication concepts and it’s super easy to set up.

What You Need:

  1. Multiplication Monsters Printable (find the free download button at the bottom of the post)
  2. A sheet of paper
  3. Pencil
  4. Two dice – if you are able to find them in different colors that is extra helpful
  5. Googly Eyes- If you don’t have access to googly eyes, you could use beads, buttons, dots from a hole punch, cheerios, or even have your child draw some and cut them out. Art and math in one!

How It Works:

Have your child pick one dice to represent the monsters and the other to represent the number of eyes.

Roll the dice for the monsters (let’s say they rolled a 3) and have them write that number down on their piece of paper followed by the times symbol.

Roll the dice for the number of eyes (let’s say they rolled a 2) and have them write that number down on their piece of paper follow by the equal sign. They have now created their multiplication problem. (3 x 2 = in our example)

Next they get to put the correct number of eyes on the monsters. For our example that would be 2 eyes on 3 monsters.

The number of eyes on their sheet is the answer to their problem. They can write down the answer clear the sheet and start on a new one.

To adapt this activity to make it more challenging you can have your child roll one dice for the number of monsters and then roll both dice for the number of eyes. This way they have higher numbers than 6 to work with. You could also print a second sheet of monsters and roll two dice for each number.
