This cherry orange sweet bread was created because I had oranges that needed to be used up, but they weren’t the sweetest.
This bread is made in a bread maker so there isn’t a lot of prep time. Just dump it all in and let the machine go. I let mine cook a tad too long. Even with that slip up, it was still soft, rich and citrusy with a punch of sweet cherries. A little bit of vanilla icing on top and it is wonderful!
Cherry Orange Sweet Bread
- 2 tbsp Orange zest zest from approximately 3 oranges
- 1 Cup Orange juice Juice from approximately 3 oranges
- 1/4 Cup Warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp Butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 3 1/2 Cups flour
- 1/4 cup dried cherries chopped into smaller pieces
- 2 1/2 tsp yeast
Put all ingredients in breadmaker pan.
Select the dough setting. It will be a very wet dough.
Spray bread pan and pour dough in carefully.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Check for golden brown top and that the center is cooked.
Let cool on wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
